A very good first half performance. More on the back foot in the second half, which really needs to be addressed.

It was good to see Hernandez being used properly, that is up front with a big, strong striking partner to play off. Long may that continue.

A special mention for Antonio, who could have cost us that second goal with his dive.
I'm glad the referee didn't blow for a free kick to Watford, and a yellow for Antonio, but by rights he probably should have done.

Great much needed win today.

Thought we played really well in the first half, as others have said lost control of it in the second and seemed camped out on the edge of our box for large periods (again).

Don’t know whether it’s a mental thing or having the formation we play just means we’re over run in midfield as teams come on to us - had Watford had more quality could’ve been a different story, alas they didn’t and it wasn’t.

Great performances from Arnie, Kouyate, Zabaletta, Collins and Ogbonna.

China and Antonio contributed well (the latter is NOT a left wing back, barely a passable right wing back, would rather see Rice on the left side of a 3 with Cresswell pushed out)

Considering the shithouse he took over and the fact he didn’t get many players in over January, Moyes is doing a good job - hopefully we can look upwards now, let’s see if he and the boys can turn a disastrous season into a decent one and get us top half.

Kouyate put in a decent shift.

I agree with norf, Obiang is extremely overrated by some of our fan base. He is average at a few things but not particularly good at anything.

Just goes to show what we have been missing with Arnie and Antonio. Get Lanzini back in for Mario and we will have a really strong forward line.

Collins, Zabaletta & Ogbonna were immense.

We're beginning to play like a 90s Man Utd.
It is odd.

immense

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - Official Match Thread
Just got home decent game
Watford dominated possession but I don’t actually remember them having a single chance
We created quite a few clear cut chances Arnie should of buried his early sitter
Antonio gave their right back a real roasting couple of times before the goal and put a great cross in for Hernandez to score
Kouyate was MOM again seems to ofreally sorted his form out since thatDonkey Obiang hasn’t played and him and Noble seem to play better alongside each other
Arnie looked a bit off the pace at times but still an absolute handful playing as a centre forward Hernandez had a decent game disappointed with Mario was weak as piss and the game just seemed to pass him by can’t imagine he’ll get much game time when Lanzini is back.

A hard fought win
Lost control in the second half and really needed that second goal
Thought Ginge was immense (MOTM) and obviously having Arnautovic back gave us an edge and a threat.
He is surprising me more and more. Did two or three things today where you just thought .... FMOB!
A couple of runs and getting out of tricky spots

AGAIN we struggled in the middle of the pitch and couldn't control the central areas. Mainly because we haven't bought the quality we need in there.

Can someone give me a list of who was missing for Watford? Seemed to have all their threats to me and after their win v Chelsea on Monday this was a TOP effort and a great win

COYI!

Delighted with 3 points after a nerve wracking performance in which, in all honesty, Watford were the better side for long periods, without creating too many clear cut chances

I did not feel we'd got the game won until the last 5 minutes

However, it was a good battling performance, which hopefully should bring a bit of confidence in for the upcoming tough schedule

As has been said, our midfield looked totally overrun for long periods

Arnautovic looks better with every match & boy have we missed him! MOM

Not a very impressive win, but hey, 3 more vital points

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - Official Match Thread
Enjoyed lots of today, we created chances, and prevented Watford from doing the same, largely.

Three points and a clean sheet, and a few injuries clearing up for our better players.

I still don’t feel we have enough possession. There’s something feeble about our midfield, or maybe it’s our passing, but we had less than 40% of the ball today, against a shit team who created fuck all. I don’t see why we can’t keep the ball better. Nearly every premier side is better at it than us

What a difference a week makes; the width of an ocean, hahaha. The front 3 looked potent. The ball kept hitting Pele on the head. Chelsea made Deulofeu look like Maradonna, we didn't.

We looked very good value for the 3 points today....great win.

I hear there's a re-structuring of the transfer policy. Is that a result of all the grumbling by the supporters, or an acceptance by the owners they don't know what they are doing? I also hear there's a predicted profit of GBP55m coming.

How about they use that to pay down some debt and start the next window by buying Mario and Dendocker?

We should probably see how he does first. I’d much rather have a decent young English player than yet another foreign journeyman.

why will it, they're marching against Sullivan, not the team

hope so Miike... but it's human nature isn't ... if we are sitting pretty in 8th or 9th place by the time of the Burnley game then you know what it's like....in 91 we imploded so it was easy the sit in's and the demonstrations... if we was midtable then?? I dunno??

Enjoyable game, that was. Sadly missed the first ten minutes due to a crash on the north circular, but can't be helped. Great to have Arnautovic and Antonio back, can't wait for Lanzini to be back too. Special shouts for Collins and Ogbonna, and also Adrian. Looked a lot more solid today and didn't look at all likely to concede, and was clearly more confident on crosses and balls into the box.

We seemingly keep coming back to Benitez. Honestly not sure that’s any kind of upgrade from Moyes. Deserves a summer to buy his own players and see how he can move us forward.
